EastEnders' Danny Dyer was 'kicked out of family home and bank account emptied' (2025)

Danny Dyer has spilled the beans on a rocky patch in his marriage, admitting that his long-suffering spouse Jo Mas showed him the door and drained his bank account following one of his drug-fuelled nights out.

The popular actor, famous for his role as Mick Carter in EastEnders, has owned up to past infidelities, once commenting: "I thought the grass was greener - but the grass was horrible and I don't ever want to go there again."

Back in 2017, Danny's domestic life hit rock bottom when he had to vacate the home he shared with Jo and their kids. The TV tough guy was spied hauling his possessions away in bags and boxes, assisted by fellow soap star Kellie Bright.

Post-split, he reportedly took refuge in a €2,000-a-month bachelor pad.

Rumours swirled that Danny's real-life partner stepped in amid "serious pressure" on their marriage, coinciding with increasing amounts of time spent apart, reports the Mirror.

This marital turmoil followed allegations about a fling with the late Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding during the filming of "Run For Your Wife" in 2012 and accusations of him sexting a blonde fan during his stag do, complete with an explicit picture of himself.

The Sun reported on saucy messages exchanged between Danny and this woman, with the actor purportedly asking her to send 'some filth' while feeling 'nawty'.

An insider has downplayed the significance of Danny's texts, claiming he was merely 'having fun' and noting: "He's clearly moved on with his life since then and him and Jo have been getting on well."

After seeking help for issues related to male abandonment, the dad-of-three opened up to The Mirror about leaving his past behind.

"Young men, and I was guilty of it myself, you don't quite know about loyalty and commitment and you just sort of go with whatever your head is telling you and it's not the best decision to make. But you've got to learn that from a young age," he reflected.

Danny expressed his unwavering commitment to his partner Jo, saying: "Me and Jo are going to be together for ever. Abso-f******-lutely. Completely. We will probably renew our wedding vows. I want to see my Dani tie the knot first, whenever that will be."

Taking accountability for the couple's rocky history, he admitted: "We've gone through a lot me and Jo. I take full responsibility for most of our ups-and-downs. Most of the downs, really."

The actor also shared insights into their long-standing relationship: "We've been together since we were 14 so we have spent our whole life together. We were parents at 18, we were still babies ourselves but then we were trying to parent from 18 onwards with Dani. So we have gone through a lot together."

Danny has openly acknowledged that his wife Jo now takes charge of their finances due to his past erratic behavior. He was moved to tears during a tough interview on the TV series The Assembly where he was questioned by autistic, neurodivergent, or learning-disabled interviewers.

With the understanding that all topics were open for discussion and answers must be candid and truthful, Danny faced tough questions. When Chardonnay, one of the group members, asked whether he and his wife maintained a joint bank account after she had emptied it and expelled him for his unruly conduct back in 2000, Danny conceded: "She controls everything now."

He then recounted the events, admitting, "Yes, she did kick me out because I was a pr***. And she deserved better. Sometimes I would go out and get off my head, take drugs, and I wouldn't come home for three days. I had issues - I never wanted the party to end. She had every right to throw me out."

During the same interrogation, Danny was probed about whether he felt he had abandoned his working-class roots by sending his kids to private schools. He divulged that he felt compelled to leave the East End, the locale where he and Jo met at school when they were just 14, due to its persistent atmosphere of "violence in the air".
