Synopsis[]

  • After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

Production[]

  • On November 2nd, 2019, the film was announced with a release date of April 8th, 2022.[1]
  • On November 5th, 2019, Phil Lord announced that Takuya Yamashiro will make an appearance.[2] Although, he was ultimately cut from the film.
  • On April 25th, 2020, the film was delayed to October 7th, 2022.[3]
  • On December 14th, 2020, Daniel Pemberton was confirmed to be returning to compose the score.[4]
  • On April 20th, 2021, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson were announced to be directing the film.[5]
  • On June 5th, 2021, Issa Rae was cast as Jessica Drew / Spider-Woman.[6]
  • On July 23rd, 2021, Jake Johnson was confirmed to be resprising his role as Peter B. Parker / Spider-Man.[7]
  • On October 14th, 2021, A CFX supervisor leaked on their LinkedIn profile that the title was Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.[8]
  • On December 5th, 2021, Sony attended CCXP and showed off a first look and announced the title would be Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One).[9]
  • On April 21st, 2022, the film was delayed to June 2nd, 2023. The same day, the title was updated to be just Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.[10]
  • On April 26th, 2022, the first 15 minutes of the film were shown off during CinemaCon. Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez were confirmed to be reprising their roles of Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales, respectively Rachel Dratch was also revealed to be voicing Miles' school counselor.[11]
  • On June 13th, 2022, Jason Schwartzman, Jorma Taccone and Shea Whigham were cast as The Spot, Vulture and George Stacy respectively.[12][13][14]
  • On July 27th, 2022, Across the Spider-Verse merchandise was found in stores and revealed that Spider-Punk would appear in the film.[15]
  • On July 31st, 2022, more merchandise was discovered, revealing Cyborg Spider-Woman would appear in the film.[16]
  • On August 17th, 2022, another bit of merchandise was discovered, revealing Ben Reilly / Scarlet Spider would appear in the film.[17]
  • On November 8th, 2022, Daniel Kaluuya was announced to voice Spider-Punk.[18]
  • On February 28th, 2023, Karan Soni was announced as the voice of Spider-Man India.[19]
  • On April 28th, 2023, Andy Samberg was announced as the voice of Scarlet Spider.[20]
  • On May 30th, 2023, Amandla Stenberg was announced as the voice of Spider-Byte.[21]
